What furniture do you make?

We handcraft a full range of solid wood furniture including dining tables, dining chairs, bar chairs, sideboards, coffee tables, side tables, TV units, bedroom furniture including beds and pedestals, and fully custom bespoke pieces. We also offer custom joinery and fit-out solutions for property developers.

What wood species do you use?

We work primarily with Pine (Oak Wash), Ash Wood, Solid Oak and Oak Veneer. Some pieces are also available in MDF with painted finishes. Each product page lists the specific material options available for that piece. We can guide you on which species or finish best suits your space, lifestyle and budget.

What is the difference between Pine, Ash and Oak?

Pine is a softwood with a warm golden tone and visible grain — perfect for rustic and farmhouse aesthetics. Ash is a light coloured hardwood with a fine grain — ideal for Scandinavian and contemporary interiors. Oak is a dense, rich hardwood with prominent grain — the premium choice for statement pieces built to last generations.

Can I customise the size of my furniture?

Yes — every piece we make is custom built to order. You can specify your exact dimensions, wood species, finish and hardware options. Simply contact us to discuss your requirements and we will provide a tailored quote.

Do you make bespoke and custom furniture?

Yes — bespoke and custom furniture is at the heart of what we do. Whether you have a specific design in mind or need a piece built to fit an unusual space, we work with you from concept to completion. Visit our Bespoke & Custom Enquiry page to get started.

Do you make furniture for property developers?

Yes — we offer a dedicated developer programme including custom kitchens, built-in wardrobes, vanities, TV units and commercial fit-outs. We work with property developers across the Western Cape on both residential and commercial projects. Contact Alfred directly to discuss your development requirements.

Ordering & Process

How do I place an order?

You can order directly through our online store at whitmaninnovations.co.za, or contact us via WhatsApp or email at info@whitmaninnovations.co.za to discuss a custom order. For bespoke pieces, we recommend getting in touch directly so we can understand your exact requirements.

What is your lead time?

All furniture is made to order with a standard lead time of 4—6 weeks from order confirmation and deposit receipt. Lead times for large developer orders are scheduled to your handover programme — contact us to discuss.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure online store powered by PayFast. For custom and bespoke orders we also accept EFT bank transfer. Our standard payment structure for custom orders is 70% deposit on order confirmation and 30% balance on completion.

Is my furniture made specifically for me?

Yes — every single piece is made to order in our Cape Town workshop. We do not keep stock of finished furniture. This means your piece is made fresh, to your exact specifications, using the best available materials at the time of production.

Do you offer assembly on delivery?

Assembly on delivery is available and can be arranged at the time of ordering. Please discuss your requirements with us when placing your order and we will confirm assembly options and any applicable charges based on your location and the size of your order.

Delivery & Shipping

Do you deliver nationwide?

Yes — we deliver across South Africa. Free delivery is available in selected Cape Town areas. Western Cape delivery is a flat rate of R1,200. For nationwide delivery outside the Western Cape, please contact us for a quote based on your location and the size of your order.

How long does delivery take after my furniture is ready?

Once your furniture is complete, delivery is typically arranged within 3—5 business days depending on your location. You will be notified as soon as your piece is ready and we will coordinate a delivery date that suits you.

Quality & Warranty

What warranty do you offer?

All Whitman Innovations furniture comes with a 2 year workmanship warranty. This covers any defects in craftsmanship or materials under normal use conditions. Our furniture is built to last generations — we stand behind every piece we make.

How do I care for my solid wood furniture?

Solid wood furniture should be kept away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity. Clean with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately. Apply a quality wood oil or wax every 6—12 months to maintain the finish and protect the wood. Avoid placing hot items directly on the surface without protection.

Will my furniture look exactly like the photos?

Because all our furniture is made from natural solid wood, each piece has its own unique grain pattern and character. The overall design, proportions and finish will match what you see — but the natural variation in wood grain means no two pieces are ever identical. This is what makes solid wood furniture truly special.

Trade & Commercial

Do you have a trade programme?

Yes — we offer a dedicated Trade Programme for interior designers, architects, property developers and hospitality businesses. Can you supply furniture for hotels, restaurants and commercial spaces?

Yes — we work with boutique hotels, restaurants, wine estates and commercial tenants across the Western Cape. We offer bar counters, reception desks, built-in seating, display shelving and custom commercial joinery. Contact Alfred directly to discuss your project.

Can I visit your workshop?

Yes — we welcome showroom visits by appointment. Contact us to arrange a time to visit our workshop in Blackheath, Cape Town where you can see our furniture in person and discuss your requirements with Alfred directly.

What areas do you serve?

We serve clients across South Africa with our primary focus on Cape Town and the Western Cape. We have delivered furniture to Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth and everywhere in between. No location is too far.
